anzû perform French composer Olivier Messiaen’s (1908-1992) Quatuor pour la fin du temps, a piece written in a German prison camp during World War II and inspired by the Book of Revelation, birdsong, and Messiaen’s experience of synesthesia. anzû is dedicated to cultivating a new repertoire to complement and expand on Messiaen’s work. The quartet’s tour honors the 80th anniversary year of the premiere of Messiaen’s landmark piece.
