Olivia De Prato was born in Vienna and started her early musical studies in Italy.
Her most recent solo project included the performance and recording of the Alban Berg Violin Concerto with the Filarmonica de Staat Sibiu, Romania in November 2007.
She has performed in Europe, Brazil and the United States as a solo artist with orchestra as well as a chamber musician and ensemble player. She gave solo recitals at prestigious festivals such as the Fesitval of Ravello (Italy) and Beethoven e i Classici Festival in Salerno (Italy).
Olivia recently moved to New York and has quickly established herself as a passionate performer of the 20. and 21. century repertoire.
2007 performances include concerts at the Bang on a Can Marathon concert, at the Lucerne Festival with Pierre Boulez and the Ensemble Intercontemporain, at the Klangspuren Festival with the Ensemble Modern, at the Steve Reich @ 70 Birthday concert at the Whitney Museum of American Art in NY and at the "June in Buffalo" Festival.
She recently performed an all Steve Reich program at the Ojai New Music festival with the group SIGNAL, conducted by Brad Lubman.
Olivia is a member of the ensembles Zero Gravity, SIGNAL founded by Brad Lubman and Lauren Radnofsky, Victrola founded by composer Missy Mazzoli and Grenzenlos founded by William Lane. Olivia De Prato is a member and co-founder of the string quartet "Zangiacomo" that recorded Brad Lubman's string quartet N.2 on Tzadik.(www.tzadik.com)
She has worked with composers such as Bernard Rands, Luca Francesconi, Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Helmut Lachenman, Krystof Penderecki, Pierre Boulez, Benedict Mason, Meredith Monk, Steve Reich, Michael Gordon, Julia Wolfe, Evan Ziporyn, David Lang, Todd Reynolds, Ned Rothenberg, Dai Fujikura, Brad Lubman, Philippe Manoury.
In the summer 2007 she collaborated with composer Peter Eotvos on his new Violin Concerto "Seven" with the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra and conductor Pierre Boulez.
Olivia participated at music festivals such as "The Quartet Program", Music Academy of the West, "Accademia Chigiana" (Italy), Bang on a Can Summer Institute, Kazusa Music Festival (Japan), IFCP FEstival, Ensemble Modern Festival and the Lucerne Festival.
Olivia De Prato studied at the University of Music and Arts in Vienna and received her BM from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester. She is currently in the process of receiving her Masters in contemporary performance from the Manhattan School of Music.
